Privacy Policy

Who this policy covers

This policy applies to gemellinewbern.com, the website of Gemelli Italian Deli & Bagelry, located at 211 Pollock Street, New Bern, North Carolina 28560. It does not cover other companies' websites, even when we link to them.

Information we collect

We do not operate accounts, contact forms or newsletters on this website, so there is nothing here for you to fill in and nothing for us to store about you directly.

Three kinds of information are still involved when you browse:

• Server and security records. The site is hosted on Cloudflare, which records standard technical information such as the pages requested, the time of the request, browser type and a network address. Cloudflare also uses this information to block spam, bots and attacks. These records exist to keep the site running and secure. Cloudflare also gives us cookieless totals, such as how many visits each page received, built from those same records.
• Visit and button counts, without cookies. Each page you open adds one to a daily tally for that page. The first page of a visit also adds one to tallies for the site you came from (for example a search engine, or "direct"), and for your screen size as phone, tablet or desktop. When someone taps Order online, Get directions or a phone number, the site adds one to a daily tally for that button, the page it was on and where on the page it sits. If an AI assistant in your browser uses the site's directions or menu tools, the site adds one to a daily tally for that tool. Nothing else is recorded: no cookie, nothing saved in your browser, no network address and nothing that could tell one visitor from another.
• Usage analytics, only if you accept. With your permission we use Google Analytics to see which pages people read, how they found us and where the site is confusing. Google Analytics uses cookies to count visits and collects details such as the pages you view, the site that referred you, your device and browser type and an approximate location derived from your network address. We look at it in aggregate. We do not use it to identify individual visitors, and advertising features are turned off.

Third-party services

Some parts of this site hand you off to companies we do not control. Once you are on their page, their privacy policy applies, not ours.

• Online ordering. Our order button opens Clover, which handles the order, your contact details and your payment. We never see or store your card information.
• Gift cards. Gift card purchases are handled by our gift card provider on its own website.
• Maps. The map on our Visit page is embedded from Google Maps, which may set cookies and receive your network address when the map loads.
• Social media. Our Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and Google links take you to those platforms, which collect information under their own terms.

Cookies

On your first visit a short notice asks whether you accept analytics cookies. Until you choose Accept, Google Analytics is not loaded and sets no cookies. We remember your answer in your browser's local storage so we do not ask on every page.

• If you accept, Google Analytics sets its cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an ID), which Google keeps for up to two years. These are used for analytics only, not advertising.
• If you decline, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, no analytics cookies are set.
• Security cookies. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary cookie to tell people apart from bots. It does not track you across sites and does not require consent.
• Embedded services. The Google Maps embed on our Visit page may set its own cookies when the map loads.

You can change your mind at any time with the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and the site will still work.

How we use information

We use the limited information described above to keep the site available and secure, fix problems and decide what to improve. We do not sell personal information, we do not share it with advertisers, and we do not use it to build profiles of visitors. Google processes analytics data on our behalf under its own privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.

How long we keep it

Hosting and security records are retained for the period set by Cloudflare, generally a rolling window measured in days or months. Google Analytics keeps visit-level data for two months, Google's default, and then deletes it. The daily visit and button tallies hold no personal information and are kept as running totals. We do not maintain a separate customer database from this website.

Your choices

You can browse this site without giving us anything. You can decline analytics cookies, change that choice with the Cookie settings link, block cookies in your browser, use private mode, or turn on Global Privacy Control, which we treat as declining analytics. Google also offers a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics on every site, at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout. If you live somewhere that gives you a legal right to ask what information a business holds about you, or to have it deleted, call us at 252-631-2030 and we will help.

Website staff

The people who edit this website sign in to a private dashboard. We keep their name and work email address to give them access, and sign-in links are emailed to them through Cloudflare. This does not apply to visitors.

Children

This site is meant for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the site handles information, we will update this page and change the date at the top. Continuing to use the site after a change means the updated policy applies.
